Frequently Asked Questions
Transit Connector Shuttles & Commuter Buses
Do I need an ID or a badge to board?
For transit connector shuttles (i.e., BART, Caltrain, SF Bay Ferry), no badge, ID, or reservation is needed. Just hop on! For Bus Share (i.e., the commuter buses), you will need to show a boarding pass via the TripShot app.
Where can I find the routes and schedules?
Navigate to TripShot (password: transportation) to view the free transit connector routes (#1-3 only) or the commuter routes (#10-72). The commuter routes are offered to the public for a fee. To learn more about the Bus Share Program, contact help@oysterpointmobility.com.
How do I know what shuttle to get on?
All buses are operated by Genentech, which are clearly visible by their bus wraps and head signs. Note: Once per hour, the Glen Park BART shuttle runs as an “Express” service, bypassing The Cove and Gateway stops. Please check the TripShot app for the full timetable or confirm the destination with your driver as you board.
What does it cost to ride?
Transit Connectors: Nothing! The bus is free for everyone in the Oyster Point business community due to a partnership between Genentech and property owners.
Bus Share (commuter buses): Access requires a monthly fee, which varies based on your organization’s specific ridership needs.
Is there a lost and found?
Please check for your belongings each time you leave the bus. Should you leave something behind, please contact (650) 225-5000 or gRide-d@gene.com.
What happens if I miss the last shuttle?
Commute.org has a Guaranteed Ride Home Program. If you commute to work or school in San Mateo County using a sustainable mode, the GRH program reimburses the cost of your ride home during emergencies, illnesses, or other qualifying events. See program rules and FAQs here.
Do the shuttles run on holidays?
The transit connectors and commuter buses follow the Genentech holiday schedule (which includes a winter break).
Can I bring my bike on the shuttle?
Riders are welcome to bring bicycles on board gRide vehicles. Foldable bicycles and scooters may be stowed in the luggage compartment as a carry-on item. Please note that for safety and weight limitations, we cannot accommodate e-bikes with non-removable batteries, bikes weighing over 55 lbs, or tires wider than 3.5 inches. To ensure efficiency, drivers will manage the opening and closing of luggage compartments, but riders are responsible for securing their own equipment.
If you plan to bring a bicycle on board a Genentech transit connector shuttle, please watch this YouTube tutorial on how to properly load them onto the vehicle.
Bus Share Riders: Support your ride to the bus by making a bike reservation in TripShot! Before clicking “Save” on your seat reservation, select the first text box with the grey arrow and toggle on “Traveling with Bicycle.” Bike capacity is LIMITED – failure to reserve could result in losing your ride. Be sure to secure a spot for your two-tired friend. When the vehicle arrives, please alert your driver that you have a bike to bring on board.
The next Glen Park BART shuttle is a Genentech Express but I need to get off at The Cove or Gateway. What do I do?
You have several options:
- Take the next shuttle – they usually arrive every 15 minutes. You can try timing those up with your BART departure/arrival.
- Take BART to the South San Francisco stop and take the Commute.org shuttle that picks up there and drops off throughout Oyster Point.
- Take the express shuttle, get off at the closest stop, and take a Veo e-scooter directly to your office.
